What happened to the wood beams in Monica’s apartment?
Clearly, putting a giant wood beam in the middle of the kitchen was a bad set choice from the get go. It was obviously going to be in the way and be a big pain for the whole production. That’s why someone should have realized that before they started filming the series. Instead, they filmed with it for a while, then just took it away. Like that’s a thing you can do with support beams. Way to ruin the illusion of this otherwise completely realistic apartment.

Alright, I love you CollegeHumor, but I love Friends more.  Here’s the break down:
1. Why did Emily finish the wedding?
This is a valid question. She could have easily slapped Ross and left the ceremony. She could have become irate. But no, she simply allowed the ceremony to continue and yelled at Ross later, in privacy.
The thing is, Emily was British. Not saying that really means anything in particular, but she was always so polite and well-mannered and clearly a lot different from the rest of the cast. Yeah, she was humiliated at her own wedding, but she was a respectable woman. [Even though I hated her character] She allowed it to continue because 1. She was in love with Ross. 2. She still wanted to be with him. 3. She waited until they were in private before she unleashed all her anger. and 4. She went to catch the plane for their honeymoon because she wanted to forgive him and move passed it. It wasn’t until she saw him leaving for their honeymoon with Rachel when the relationship really became unfixable. Also, in a later episode down the road, she ends up calling Ross and telling him she misses him and wonders if it were a mistake to end things so quickly. There is also the obvious answer to this question: it was a season finale cliffhanger. And any writer knows that trouble is more interesting.
2. Who are these other “friends” they show in party scenes?
Technically, they’re family and friends of the cast members. In the episodes though, they’re literally random friends and acquaintances. Like from each Friends’ work or the coffee shop or wherever. That’s why Mr. Treiger and Gunther are always invited. They’re background characters anyways so who cares. Half the time they’re the same people at the coffee shop or in restaurants.
3. Why are they all friends with Phoebe?
Um, because Phoebe’s awesome. I really shouldn’t have to go into this any further than that, but whatever. Yeah, she was Monica’s roommate before Rachel but her and Monica were roommates for a couple years. That’s revealed in a flashback episode when it’s 1992 [show started in 1994]. Phoebe’s moving all her shit out in secret because Monica was driving her crazy.
They’re still friends with Phoebe because she’s a great friend. She does things for all of them, supports them all, and has been in all their lives since she lived with Monica. Why would you just cut off a friend because they’re weird? If that were the case, why wouldn’t they cut off Ross for being a know-it-all? Or Monica being neurotic and ridiculously competitive? Or any of the characters for their flaws. Besides, every group of friends has that one weirdo friend that’s just a little more out there than anyone else. And if you don’t have one in your group, it’s probably you.
Also. Eddie was fucking crazy. He stuck a live goldfish in his pocket just so Chandler “couldn’t keep it.” He also had psychotic issues about his ex Milly and immediately accused Chandler of sleeping with her. Chandler also kicked him out like three times and he wouldn’t leave. Eddie was a whole different playing field than Phoebe and they should have never been compared.
4. What’s up with Rachel and Emma living with Joey?
Rachel lived with Joey prior to Emma. She did move in with Ross, but that blew over because they didn’t discuss their feelings and everything blew over when Ross had a jealous episode. Rachel, with nowhere else to go on such short notice, moved back in with Joey.
One- Rachel needed a place asap. And it was easier for her to move across the street and back than to have to rent moving trucks, hire helpers, etc. Two- finding an apartment in New York is hard. Damn near impossible. And they had plenty of episodes of Rachel searching for an apartment before Ross offered her to move in with him. Three- She lived there before, why not again? Four- She did live with Phoebe, but that fire happened and then the firefighters knocked down the dividing wall so Phoebe’s place turned into a one bedroom. Five- Location. Living with Joey allowed her full, convenient access to all her friends, she didn’t have a long commute to work, and the coffee shop is still downstairs. I’d stick with Joey too if I were her.
5. Why does nobody laugh at Chandler’s jokes?
Ever been around someone who always has a sarcastic remark to literally everything you say? It gets old real fast. Chandler’s humor is always on so everyone looks past it. It’s the same how Monica’s always freaking out about cleaning but they all deal with it. Chandler’s funny to us because we don’t live with him. Also, there’s nothing worse than someone constantly trying to be funny and not succeeding yet they keep on trying. It’s exhausting.
6. What happened to the wood beams in Monica’s apartment?
What you said is exactly right. They had them in for the first couple of seasons but removed them. After awhile, they just became a hassle. They ruined a lot of shots and blocked the view. The only episode I can think of where they were ever addressed was during Monica and Rachel’s xmas party where they hung mistletoe from it and the episode Ross ran into it while teasing Monica for banging Ben’s head on the ceiling. Monica Bang!
7. Why was Ross just going to let Rachel move his daughter to Paris?
Okay, I see your concern here but put that on hold for a second. Ross did EVERYTHING in his power to try to get Rachel to stay. The episode prior, he continuously bribes her old boss to give Rachel her job back. Like, three times because it ends up being a bid war between Ralph Lauren and Louis Vuitton. He doesn’t just let her go. He does everything he can to try to stop it but she tells him it’s not what she wants and he wants her to be happy. Louis Vuitton also said they’d pay and do whatever she and Ross wanted for custody on Emma. And not only does he try to keep her from leaving in the first place, he stops her damn plane from leaving and meets her at the airport. He couldn’t stop her and Emma, because Emma was with Rachel’s mom at the time. They were going to fly to Paris the next day or so. Besides, pulling the custody card and using Emma as an excuse to hold Rachel back from her dream job is pretty shitty. Especially if said job is willing to help out however they want with the situation. If Ross stopped Rachel from boarding the plane to tell her how much he loves Emma and how much he’ll miss her, it would pull back from the main point: that Ross was still in love with her and wanted to be with her. Besides if Rachel stays, Emma stays.
8. How can Joey and Phoebe afford anything?
Valid question. I’d assume Joey still gets help from his parents. He still goes home for dinners, to do his laundry, etc. He bounces from job to job and Chandler helps him out A LOT. But I mean, when he did get work, he got paid pretty decent. Rachel made a living off of being a waitress, Joey ended up working at the coffee shop. He had his own tv show [Mac & Cheese], he was on Days of Our Lives as a star and made bank until he got killed off. He then was put back on the show and was making a good living.
Phoebe, however, we saw her ways of getting money a lot. There was one episode where she made $1,000 off a mistake her bank made. She found a thumb in her soda and got compensated for that. She was a masseuse the entire series, she played her guitar everywhere. Also, she finally got a job at a corporation and got health benefits and a really good salary. I’d assume she’d be a brilliant money saver because she once lived on the street. So while living in Monica’s rent controlled apartment, she probably saved a lot. She also shops at thrift shops….look at her clothes.
9. Why do snobby little shits pretend Friends wasn’t a good show?
Because people are fucking retarded. If anyone paid attention, the jokes that were made on Friends are often recycled and used on many other tv shows. Prime example? How I Met Your Mother. But that’s neither here nor there. People suck.
10. They were on a break. [?]
They were…but Ross still shouldn’t have fucked the copy place hoe. Break or not, that was definitely not right.
